Beacon

Stay: The Roundhouse — waterfall views and a short Uber from the station.  

Dinner: Book the Roundhouse dining room for river-and-falls drama.  

Scenic walk: Sunset stroll at Scenic Hudson’s Long Dock Park (steps from the train).  

Nightcap / hot chocolate: Slip into Wonderbar for cocktails, or warm up at Bank Square Coffeehouse.  

Cold Spring

Stay: Historic river views at Hudson House River Inn (walkable from the station).  

Dinner: Old-station charm and a solid burger at Cold Spring Depot.  

Scenic walk: Gazebo + bridge views at Cold Spring Pier / riverfront esplanade.  

Nightcap: Depot’s bar is easy; otherwise Main Street has cozy cafés for a cocoa warm-up.  

Hudson

Stay: Design-forward at The Maker Hotel; townhouse-style suites at Wm. Farmer & Sons.  

Dinner: Candlelit French-leaning plates at The Maker Restaurant; or book pasta-centric Via Cassia (USA TODAY 10Best nod).  

Scenic walk: Golden-hour loop at Henry Hudson Riverfront Park.  

Rhinebeck

Stay: Spa-centric luxury at Mirbeau Inn & Spa Rhinebeck (fireplaces + soaking tubs).  

Dinner: Reserve Terrapin Restaurant for their Valentine’s prix-fixe; classic French at Le Petit Bistro for a more intimate room.  

Scenic walk: Short river lookout at Rhinecliff Landing (5 min drive).  

Note: The Amsterdam pivoted to private events; it’s no longer a regular dinner option.  

Kingston

Stay: Artful, walk-to-everything base at Hotel Kinsley; for private-cabin vibes, check Hutton Brickyards Retreat & Spa.  

Dinner: Date-night staple Le Canard Enchainé—think escargots, duck, and a cozy room.  

Scenic walk: Hand-in-hand along the Rondout waterfront/West Strand historic district.  

Tarrytown / Sleepy Hollow

Stay: Gilded-Age romance at Tarrytown House Estate.  

Dinner: Modern Cantonese at on-site Goosefeather; farm-to-table river views at RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen by the station.  

Scenic walk: Boardwalks and skyline glimpses on the Scenic Hudson RiverWalk Park at Tarrytown; Sleepy Hollow’s lighthouse area is beautiful, though tours remain suspended post-restoration damage.  

Amenia (quiet-lux countryside)

Stay + Dinner: Troutbeck—Champalimaud-designed rooms, fireplaces, and a Dining Room that leans seasonal and romantic; Valentine’s programming runs this month.  

Weekend Itinerary (Sample, car-light)

Sat: Late-morning train → check-in → Main Street stroll → spa hour or gallery hop → dinner (chef’s tasting or cozy bistro).

Sun: Brunch → waterfront walk (bring a thermos for cocoa) → late train home.
