48 Hours in Beacon: Art, Eats & River Views
Two days in Beacon should feel like a deep breath—modern art in a sun-washed factory, golden-hour on the Hudson, and that “this could be home” moment as you stroll Main Street. Use this plan, make it yours, and let the river do the rest.
⸻
Friday Evening — Arrival, Views, and a Local Table
•Check in near the east end of Main to keep everything walkable.
•Golden hour at Long Dock Park: Stroll the peninsula and watch the colors shift on the river; it’s a quick reset from the week.
•Dinner: The Roundhouse for waterfall views and modern Hudson Valley cuisine; reserve ahead, especially in foliage or holiday periods.
⸻
Saturday — Big Art, Small Bites, and Main Street Wandering
•Coffee: Bank Square Coffeehouse (opens early) for a latte and local intel.
•Dia Beacon (10am–4pm; Fri–Mon): A must. Give yourself 2–3 hours; public tours on weekends are free with admission.
•Main Street browsing: Step into Hudson Beach Glass—watch a demo or book a quick make-your-own workshop for a souvenir you actually want.
•Late afternoon: Back to the river—bring a picnic to Long Dock or wander the docks as the light softens.
•Evening sip: If you’re staying in town, snag a bar seat back at the Roundhouse lounge and listen to the falls.
Hiking note: Breakneck Ridge trailhead and station are closed for a multi-year project (through ~2027). Choose alternate hikes (Mount Beacon fire tower, etc.) and check closures before you go.
⸻
Sunday — Slow Morning & Market Haul
•Beacon Farmers’ Market (Sundays 10–2, year-round): Grab granola, cheeses, and a bouquet for the ride home.
•Brunch: Back to Main Street; keep it simple and local.
